Fresh Track: Tyler Childers “All Your’n”

There is a goddamn vibe to the latest track off Tyler Childers‘ forthcoming Country Squire. Somewhere between rock n’ soul and country, the arrangement is soaked in…just something. There isn’t really word for it because Childers and the sonic nature of his songs exist on their own plane. The perfection of that vibe, with throbbing keys and steady beats that The Band first perfected is evident in the instrumentation of the song, but as always, its’ Childers’ voice and his words that are the star of the show.

He has an uncanny ability to lend the grit and gristle in that natural breaking vocal to sentiments of tenderness, vulnerability and the occasional self deprecating feeling unlike any other artist we have had the pleasure of hearing in recent times. Time and time again, Tyler manages to break your heart and make you want to rumble in a bar fight in the same breath. All Your’n may lean slightly more to the tender side of things, but the way in which he delivers each line tears at your heart in the most beautiful way.

So I’ll love you til my lungs give out / I ain’t lyin’

I’m all your n’ you’re all mine

A lesser artist couldn’t deliver a simple line with the conviction and honesty that that he does, but then again, there aren’t many other artists who can hold a candle here.

‘Country Squire is out on August 2 and you can pre-order it now.
