In the tradition of folk and bluegrass music, Mama Ain’t Dead plucks their inspiration (and band members) from all over the map. Swapping stories and songs…and instruments the four piece respects and honors the traditions and sounds of American roots music while infusing contemporary songs with old-time appeal. Multi-instrumentalists and songwriters Betsy Heron, Brie Green, Scott Heron, and Tim Cackett deliver a down-home sound driven by fiddles and banjos that fixes to leave toes tapping and feet stomping. Infectious and rollicking.
The latest from the band comes in the form of a video for their song “Down By The Ocean”. The band standing around a central mic, drawing you in with intimacy and a pillowy tenderness. Sweet harmonies projecting out over the traditional instruments, warm and soft at times, but instilling just enough of that driving energy to get your blood warming up in these cold winter months and ready for the festival season this summer.
Check out the video below and give the band a listen. I am sure they will be making some waves this summer around New England and beyond.
