What About It: “I lived in Lyon, France for a period of time when I was sixteen. It was a bleak experience. But a friendship there was very special to me and the way our lives have circled around and traveled far from each other since –it has been an education in privilege and adversity. The song is for two women: my friend and the stranger at the bus transfer station. We’d watch her give milk to the cats she housed in make-shift cardboard kennels.
