Peep This: Doctor Gasp! “She, Vampire Tamer” At Light Club Lamp Shop

Last Friday we ventured up the dark, crooked trail to Burlington, stepped through the doors of the haunted tavern and took a seat next to a skeleton couple to catch the spooky songs of Doctor Gasp! Ok, well the crooked trail is I-89 and the haunted tavern was the Light Club Lamp Shop, but we did actually sit across from a couple dressed up as a pair of skeletons in feety pajamas I had when I was about 6…dedication to the season!

Now we have seen our old pal Dan Blakeslee a thousand times in a thousand different circumstances but this was the old lady’s first time seeing the incomparable Doctor Gasp in the flesh. And she was sure in for a treat. The atmosphere suited him perfectly and the theatrics he unleashed (from a stage full of plastic jack o’ lanterns to the hat box with a vampire fish-and strobe light-inside to his shoulder lever high kicks) was a sight to be seen. The crowd was made up of folks ranging from a 5 or 6 year old girl sitting front and center and singing along to every song to people in their 70s it seemed. When the Doctor claims that he sings “halloween songs for the old, young and immortal” he isn’t kidding.

LCLS has become out go to spot (partly because the town we live in only has a general store…literally) and we have never been disappointed there. This was the most full I have seen it to date and the energy in the room that was emanating from just one performer on stage was otherworldly!

Here is Doctor Gasp performing “She, Vampire Tamer!” at The Light Club Lamp Shop in Burlington, Vermont. And he is still on tour through the rest of the month, so catch him at any of the dates HERE.
