Show You Should Know: TONIGHT! Michaela Anne at Atwoods Tavern (Cambridge, MA)
Take pensive, poignant songwriting prowess, a lilting, expressive vocal and add in a dash of badassery and country boot stomping attitude and you get Michaela Anne and her traveling band of classic-country-loving, pedal-steel-crying, boots-pounding-a-wooden-tavern-floor gents. A mere 4 and a half months back the Nashville based singer-songwriter was joined by Annie Lynch and Keenan O’ Meara in the comfy dungeounous vibe of the Lizard Lounge. To sum that one up: “She walks a line. A line that stretches from the intricate and exquisite to… “punch to the gut”-raucous-natured badassery…”. You get a little of everything with this gal and with a HUGE voice springing forth from her pint sized frame that could barrel down Goliath, well you are sure to be in for a treat when she unleashes some hell in verse form with a two step backbeat and a bit of grit and edge to get you moving and a shaking. She will make your heart wrench with her words, she will make you smile with her stage presence and stories, and good lord the music will get you dancing.
Now we don’t need to tell you about Atwoods Tavern. We have sung the high praises of this place many times. It is good to see that Randi Millman continues to rope in an excellent line up of talent and with that wooden backdrop on stage and a whiskey menu a mile long, well its a damn good place to catch song honky tonk twang and barroom lamenting courtesy of Michaela and the fellas in the band.
Top it all off with the virtuosic guitar stylings of Lyle Brewer to kick off the night and well, you would be a fool to miss this one folks.
Thats tonight (10/18) at Atwoods in Cambridge. Tickets at the door…
And here is a little something to hold you over from the last time she was in town.
