Duets: Hailey Magee & Maxwell Bailey

A big part of why I wanted to kick off the “Duets” project was to make a broader reach between musicians and songwriters within our New England community. I mean that both for myself, meeting and interacting with new people or get to know those I already know a bit better and to pair up performers who normally do not play together. Give them an opportunity to get out of the comfort zone and see what happens.

With our second episode I really got to do that. I arrived early and sat and talked with Hailey Magee about life, music, dreams and all that good stuff. Hailey is the founder of EBASS (which, as you may know is a valued partner to us here at RLR). She selflessly promotes the art of others, preferring to stay behind the scenes and told me she does not want to cross the gray line of performing at EBASS events and strictly be the force driving the group and not benefitting from it. I find that incredibly admirable. Oh, she also happens to write great tunes and has a pretty killer voice to boot.

Maxwell Bailey is another person around town giving back to the community with his Noise Floor Sessions. A pop up series of sorts that revolves around the area choosing different venues and artists each month. Bailey remains the host of the whole thing and performs during and puts on these events. And…again, the guy is a great writer and has a great voice.

The two community supporters teamed up for episode 2 of Duets to tackle a collaboration on Hailey’s song “Skin”…check it.
