Show You Should Know: Dom Flemons at the MFA 8/12

11813342_870438309659137_5642758701896288053_nDom Flemons is essentially a living and breathing museum of American Roots Music. Be it blues or folk or bluegrass or most anything in between, this man likely could launch right into any song written in the past 200 years with the drop of a hat and play it on any host of different instruments. Could that with how entertaining he is as a performer and charming he is to boot, and man you are in for a treat when you get to see Flemons perform.

A few weeks back he hosted not one, but two, different showcases at the Newport Folk Festival, highlighting music and musicians spanning generations and styles. Playing the bones or pickin an old blues tune out on his acoustic guitar and slinging the harmonica, no matter what you are in for a raucous good time (all while being educated on the musical stylings through the years) with Dom. His original music is steeped deeply in the traditions of yester-year with a keen focus on the crafting of a great song. One not to be missed!
