30 Days Til Newport Folk: Day 28 – Reignwolf Ignites the Quad Stage, The People Rejoice

10255357_537655029696319_2412530126117242046_nIn the particular case of Reignwolf I fell into a brief moment of folk snobbery and wasn’t going to try and catch much of the set (the plan was to check out Communion in the Museum, then hit Jenny Lewis)…I had a momentary lapse of dumbassedness and thank goodness I caught the set because the band was insane. This was just the pick me up that I needed, the right amount of rock sprinkled with some electricified blues, and all the attitude you could ask for. My core was shook, I was excited, Jordan Cook was flailing all over the stage playing his heart out and his excitement poured out and washed over the folks in the crowd.

It was also interesting to see how grateful and excited Cook, who is admittedly a pretty badass rocker dude, was to be at a folk festival. I think that is a testament to Newport and how it bends the rules a bit when it comes to genres. What is folk music anyway? Music that folks sing together yeah? Well…the trio had the folks singing along and singing loud that day.
