Track of the Week: Eric Lichter “Drunk and Naked”

Eric Lichter has told me that he can produce a great song or album nearly anywhere, the back of his car, his home, backstage at a music festival…and I believe him.

Lichter has a vulnerable shakiness to his voice reminiscent of Neil Young, but remains all Eric. I am hesitant to call a guy’s vocal beautiful, but he has a beautiful voice. Hesitant, but purposeful…he layers instruments and voices in such a way that creates beauty out of simplicity.

“Drunk and Naked” was recorded at Lichter’s kitchen table with the crackle of a fire weaving into the mix in the background. From what he has told me, it was actually recorded on his phone…I mean come on. If he can make a tune sound like this on his phone, I am asking him to engineer my entire next record just on his iPhone. Listen, enjoy, and dig into the rest of this man’s catalog, it has my stamp of approval.
