Listen to this: Jake Hill and Deep Creek “Growler”
Whats better than indulging in microbrews that have the flavor profile of fine wines and creating art with some trusted colleagues? Perhaps making noise with your homies and slamming down great brews…well, I guess its the same difference, but something Jake Hill thoroughly enjoys.
Thoroughly enjoys and does extremely well as he and his Deep Creek cohorts did just that, and in record time as he went on a great beer finding mission on a Thursday evening, set up his studio, started recording a 7 song album at 10:30 AM on a Friday and then promptly released those songs in the package that is ‘Growler’ Sunday at 1 PM. Does not compute? How? Well, they did it, and the home brewed record is tasty as all hell.
The kick off track “Money” has a bumping down the road, buoyant kind of of sound that is iced with Jake’s gravely howl. He has a rapid fire of lyrics only slowed down when he exclaims:
You want to live / where’s your money baby
‘Growler’ could be used to describe the album, a packaging for the beers that they fellas picked up, or Hill’s gruff and emotion driven vocals. The tunes contained here are rock n’ roll music at its finest, with great lyrics, a funk and a groove that captures your attention and holds steady. These guys are a fun band, that writes from a real and honest place, but I don’t think takes themselves to seriously. They just love to play together and that is very evident in this collection of tunes. Check it out for yourself today.
