RLR 2 Year Anniversary Show Artist Spotlight: Dave Deluca

I first met Dave Deluca nearly 8 years ago. Dave had spent years playing in cover bands with his close pals which sprouted a band for original music called ‘Highway Ghosts’. The band was modeled as after the band member’s favorite group ‘The Swinging Steaks’, with a keen focus on multiple harmonies and heavy on the twang in the guitar department.

While ‘Highway Ghosts’ is now on a hiatus, Deluca continues to immerse himself up to his eyeballs in the local music community. Dave is the type of guy that you have a 50/50 chance of seeing at any club on any night of the week supporting his friends bands (and often times jumping in for a song or two). The guy seriously never sleeps. I think he feeds off of live music and Guinness instead of food and rest. He subs in on guitar with a multitude of different bands and songwriters posing in duo form, full band, or helping his pals record demos in his home studio.

His most popular side man project to date is the raucous and rowdy “Double D and the Haymakers”. Dave shares the band leader duties with front man of Girls Guns and Glory, Ward Hayden and DD also lends his always impressive lead guitar work. Playing a couple choice originals from the Ghosts and GGG, the band plays a ton of classic country, friends tunes, and is a guaranteed good time. The group with Josh “best hair in the business” Kiggans on Drums, Steve Lat playing any instrument that is tossed in front of him, and Greg Loughman on the bass has had a standing set at Toad for a number of months that has been always well attended and keeps the audience begging for more.

Dave was also the other half of the Roots in the Round series that ran for two years (one at The Tinker’s Son in Norwell and one at Toad in Cambridge). Helping me to create even more of a community within the musical comradery that exists around town and forcing people into situations where (often times) truly magical moments play out on stage.

I am really happy to have Dave on board and in the round to kick off the 2 Year Anniversary. A guy who really loves being a part of the music community in town and is truly excited about it…and I bet he will be jumping in and collaborating on some of those other tunes in the round and throughout the evening.
