First Round Knock Out: Green Mountain Bluegrass & Roots’ Initial Line Up Announcement…

Well, here we are folks. The initial line up of the best little fest with the biggest heart was just announced and already they are off to a great start.

An “add some new blood, and keep some old favorites” approach to booking is sure to appease both those festivarians who have attended and loved the fest the past two years and newbies to GMBR that may be attending for some of those ‘top line in the announcement’ acts. Adding some heavy hitters in the way of Yonder Mountain String Band, having Sierra Hull back after a year off and seeing a Joy Kills Sorrow reunion of sorts already guilding a beautiful line up with a whole lot more to come. YSMB was my own personal foray into the world of bluegrass…a meandering path that eventually led to Hartford, Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs. Needless to say, that announcement scratches the nostalgia itch a bit for me.

This first announcement alone promises that the late night sets at Lamplighter are going to be off the charts.

Others we are pumped to see in triumphant return are fest favorites and mainstays Christian Sedelmyer and Joe K. Walsh. Hawktail coming back for a second year in a row and the staple “toss 3 incredible artists together” set with Molsky, Trischka and Daves are sure to be barn burners. With Wes Corbett just announcing he is joining Sam Bush’s band, its nice to see him back as well and Allison de Groot and Tatiana Hargreaves,  return and will surely to add some old time flavor to the line up.

And two new additions to the GMBR family in Caleb Klauder Country Band (I am guessing a dance tent set here) and Slocan Ramblers…the current line up alone is worth the price of admission.

The full line up is slated to be about 30 bands and with just 11 announced in this first go round, there is a whole hell of a lot more to be excited about from GMBR in 2020. So belt yourself in and hold on tight folks.

Who do you hope gets added down the line?
