Fresh Track: Aoife O’ Donovan ‘Night Fishing’

Texture. The first seconds of Aoife O’ Donovan‘s new single ‘Night Fishing’ open up immediate feelings of a layering of intricately spun fibers that cross and dip over each other in a hauntingly beautiful way. And from there, it only further opens up…

Soaring vocals that dip down and shoot into ethereal sonic landscapes. Strings twirl about on varying planes, adding depth and a space for you to truly move into the track and find yourself either comfortable spot to let it wave over you in undulating vibrations or dance with the soaring fiddle lines and flow with the rhythm of the lower tones. The glue, a guitar pattern that is both inviting and intriguing in the shadow it casts beneath the airy quality of dancing violins.

O’ Donovan’s vocal, as always, the center piece for the golden shimmering of light that makes it way outward from the track. Pure magic.

“Night Fishing” is the latest track from Bull Frogs Croon (and Other Songs), which is out March 6. The song features Jeremy Kittel and Brittany Haas on fiddle, Mario Gotoh on viola, and Paul Kowert on bass
