Erin Cassels-Brown is a little bit country and a little bit rock n’ roll. The Vermont based singer-songwriter has nailed down that traveling minstrel, old acoustic guitar case slung over the back, wandering around to play the next gig and taking that gig money to buy gas and the next meal to keep him running down the line.
“Dreamin On Overdrive” has a bit more of an edge. A bluesy rock guitar rhythm and a swinging vibe. Rather than having to bridge that gap that often plagues artists, being too country for rock or too rock for country, Cassels-Brown beautifully bridges that gap. With a keen focus on songwriting that draw you in and a sonic aesthetic that will keep your feet dancing. Its buoyant, but gritty. Catchy, the hooks of the chorus digging in deep to the recesses of your brain and idling there, spinning round. But still, most importantly, the heart and soul bleed through his performance.
There is just something about this dude’s voice that I cannot stop listening to. It’s some sort of light twang. A gentle conviction and comfort that he commands in the delivery of each word.
