Show You Should Know: Noble Dust and Cricket Blue at ArtsRiot 8/20 (Burlington, VT)
ArtsRiot may be situated just outside of Burlington proper but don’t let that keep you away from its pull. A compound of sorts with artists, great food and a vibe that can’t be beat, it plays host to a whole assortment of great concerts and events and on 8/20 one of those will be unfolding yet again.
Cricket Blue are probably a band you know if you are a Vermonter with a penchant for beautiful songwriter and intricate arrangements. Joining them is the progressive folk group Noble Dust, who we previously described as having a “beauty in the power of all aspects of the band’s music, but it’s balanced by just how damn fun it is…”. So beauty, fun, dancing and feeling the music. Sold yet?
Connecticut based roots rock trio Alpacka has also been added to the bill…a three-fore for you fine folks.
Get on out to the show, it is sure to be a heck of an evening.
Noble Dust
A motley collection of reformed band geeks, Noble Dust fills festivals and tiny living rooms alike with their dynamic, lyrically-driven progressive folk pop. Their thoughtfully-crafted backdrops, ethereal vocal harmonies, and intricate horn melodies culminate to create a sound that is at the same time otherworldly and familiar. The group released their eponymous debut EP in December of 2015 and has since shared the stage with Dietrich Strause & Zachariah Hickman, Adam Ezra Group, and Session Americana. Noble Dust received a grant from Club Passim’s Iguana Music Fund to complete their first full length album, And The Tide Rises released in April 2018.
Cricket Blue
Laura Heaberlin and Taylor Smith of Vermont’s Cricket Blue are musicians, sure, but they’re storytellers too. The eleven songs on their debut album Serotinalia feature a cast of characters right out of a short story collection. A listless grocery store clerk. A woman obsessed with her milkman. A harvest deity who is ritually murdered every fall. Oh, and a pair of scissors.
