Peep This: Lyle Brewer “Ripple”

Saturday night my old man and I went to see Dead & Co. at Gillette Stadium in Mass. I will say that as I have grown older (and my days of doing psychedelics are long over) my interest in a 15 minute version of Drums or Space has significantly waned…but it was a great chance to spend some time with my pops and have the nostalgia itch scratched for a couple hours.

What I can really get behind is guitarist extraordinaire Lyle Brewer’s latest efforts in putting out videos of his own take on classics from The Grateful Dead called “Let it Grow”.

He previously pushed out a beautiful version of “Friend of the Devil” and just this week he released another. His take on “Ripple” was aptly filmed next to a pond and is a beautiful rendition of a song so well known for the patter of its words throughout each verse that hearing it with the voice Lyle injects into it using notes on a guitar rather than lyrics, well, just give it a watch and follow Lyle for more of what is sure to be a really special collection of songs.
