Upping the Ante: Summit Indie Music Festival Returns for Second Year on May 11th
Summit Indie Music fest may only be in its second year of life, but in that year it has undergone a transformation and growth that takes many fests a long time to get under itself. What, last year ,was more of a “showcase of 4 bands playing at a venue”…for all intents and purposes, a fairly regular show, has evolved into a tried and true one day festy experience. Which is truly impressive. Expanding the line up and doubling (plus 2) the line up from last year. Adding in the support of local breweries and other businesses.
And making the event span across multiple days in adding a partnership with Story Collider presenting “Music on my Mind”, a story telling experience hosted by Maryam Zaringhalam and Kellie Vinal that will take place on May 2nd to get folks geared up for the big festival event on the 11th. The former being a discussion on topics “From the interconnected dimensions of physics and jazz, to the sometimes chaotic, sometimes therapeutic effect that music has on our bodies, join our tellers as they explore how music and science are inextricably linked.”
Founder and festival producer Joel Greer tells us, “What I am most proud about the festival is that we’ve been able to follow our mission. “To gather in the spirit of philanthropy and share our love and passion for music“.”
A host of last year’s artists will be returning with the addition of some expansive, genre spanning additions as well. Kingsley Flood will bring their roots rock sounds to the event as well as Boston hip hop sensation Latrell James.
Greer continues, “It’s been such a beautiful experience working with so many talented people and being able to put music into the world“.
