There are very, very few things that occasionally can make me regret my move to the remote hills of the Green Mountain State, this right here is one of them because this night is going to be absolutely fucking awesome. Some of Rhodey’s finest covering a band that all too many of us cut our teeth covering and learning the songs of. Hours pouring over tab or playing along to In Utero or Bleach of, yes of course, Nevermind. Nirvana was the voice of an entire span of humans ranging from those in their 20s when Kurt passed to even those who were far to young to perhaps understand the brevity of his power as a performer, but the music moved us and we listened for years and years until those songs still made an impact, albeit maybe in a different way.
Our PVD Live pals are at it again and next Wednesday Nirvana Night Vol 2 hits Dusk in Providence. There are a lot of people I’d love to see at this evening and the “and more” makes me even further wish I had a transporter to get me down there on a weeknight from my mountainy perch here in VT. But alas, all of you can go in my stead and grunge rock on…and maybe get a video or two.
Not to force anyone’s hand, but I’d particularly love to see a Quahogs rendition of ‘Heart Shaped Box’. Maybe a solo John Faraone take on ‘All Apologies” or (while I know they aren’t Nirvana songs, they are pivotal to their records) ‘The Man Who Sold The World’ or perhaps ‘Where Did You Sleep Last Night?’ slayed by Chrissy Stewart with some solid backing from members of the others playing. And speaking of people playing solo, Ava Callery and her electric performing ‘Something in the Way’ or Keith McCurdy making us all weep with a beautiful rendition of ‘All Apologies‘.
Someone make that happen…and then Facetime me.
Get out to this show folks and give the beautiful folks at PVD Live a high five and a follow because they are killing the showcase game.
