Show Alert: Che Apalache’s “Latingrass” coming to Boston area on May 9

A little of this and a little of that. No matter what kind of music you play or listen to, we are not one dimensional beings and influence injects itself into our playing styles or listening preferences across the board. Enter Che Apalache

Dubbed Latingrass, the band blends together a tasty mix of tradition and contemporary flair into their music. “Evoking images from Appalachia to the Andes, Che Apalache’s music is a testament to a powerful cultural and musical exchange. Formed in the urban neighborhoods of Buenos Aires, their music draws deeply from the musical traditions of the Southern US and Latin America to form their singular musical style – Latingrass.” I mean banjo juggernaut Béla Fleck is on as producer for their next record out later this summer (which you can pre-order here), so they are doing something brilliant in the way of keeping things fresh while highlight the history of music that came before them. And they are coming to Foxborough, Massachusetts in just over a week with additional dates in Maine, western Mass and upstate NY…

In 2017-18 the band embarked on three big US tours and along the way were featured on NPR’s “All Things Considered” and performed at some amazing venues including the Kennedy Center. Last August they were discovered by legendary banjo player, Béla Fleck, who offered to produce their next album. Earlier this year they traveled to Nashville and cut the record, which will be released August 2019 on Free Dirt Records. This spring Che Apalache embarks on a month-long tour up and down the East Coast, across the Midwest and throughout California.
