Peep This: Bridge 19 “Diamonds”

I’ll admit I am a softy for any tune that steps up to bat with weeping pedal steel right out of the gate. And “Diamonds” from Louisville, KY based Bridge 19 is soaked in it.

The Americana outfit borders somewhere along the lines of seamless harmonies ala The Watson Twins and country tinged rock fringing on pioneers of Americana Wilco and The Jayhawks. Just that good red dirt roots rock that holds steady and grips onto you like caked mud in the treads of your shoe. The kind of songs that you carry along with you, sometimes, without even realizing as the melody lingers in your head long after the song ends. The voices of frontwomen Audrey Cecil and Amanda Lucas intertwine and become one, then if you listen deeply (and you should) you can really pick them apart. It’s tough to manage that balance. Not all singers can do it. Its super impactful. Partially haunting and partially a siren-esque allure that draws you in closer for a listen.

“”Diamonds” explores the pain and confusion that lingers after a failed relationship. From questioning what might have been to wanting to repair the pain your loved one carries,” the band tells us. And perhaps thats a theme running throughout. Hanging onto something or something hanging on to you.

Bridge 19 are set to release their new LP In the Afterglow on April 26. Keep an eye out and an ear open…
