GO TO THIS: Sub Rosette Residency – Lizard Lounge (4/17)

GO TO THIS SHOW. I REPEAT GO TO THIS…one more time for good measure GO. TO. THIS. SHOW.

Sub Rosa was dubbed as secret music society of sorts. A joyous, yet cloaked gathering of musicians that happened, in some way, by serendipitous accident. This residency at the Lizard Lounge began on the heels of “Rose Fest” – a one night get together that happened impromptu in August 2007, to fill a cancellation at the Lizard Lounge and was curated by the ever wonderful Rose Polenzani. A cross section of the best that Camber-ville had to offer and has hosted everyone from the Session Americana fellas, to Aoife O’ Donovan to Mark Erelli and many, many more. The success of the night propelled it into a regular thing and added “a stranger” concept where a songwriter unknown to Rose and co. joins in the evening of music and collaboration. Those are when the special moments truly happen. Spontaneous song and joining of artist’s voices. Its magic.

The residency has spun off countless outside of the Lizard collaborations, a yearly retreat and now what is being labeled as “A new residency, every third Wednesday of the month, featuring a smaller, more intimate but still collaborative event with a rotating cast of songwriters.” Sounds like a heck of a time to us.

This first show, April 17, features Rose Polenzani, Kris Delmhorst, Annie Lynch, Dana Colley, Dietrich Strause, Dave Godowsky, and rhythm section Billy Beard and Zachariah Hickman.

So, get your tickets early and start marking off every 3rd Wednesdays on your calendar because if you are in the area, this is where you need to be.
