And the hits just keep on coming…and coming…and coming again.
In case you missed this announcement the folks at Green Mountain Bluegrass and Roots snuck another incredible addition to their already absolutely ridiculous line up.
Last year Bobby Britt closed out the festival with a band comprised of Andrew Marlin and Emily Frantz of Mandolin Orange and Allison de Groot (Goodbye Girls, Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves) and by the end of their set had the founders of the fest (Jill and John Turpin) on stage with them playing Dead tunes as well as a host of other festival artists. It was by and large the most emotional and quite possibly special sets of the entire 4 day weekend and Britt’s genuine appreciation and humble attitude from the stage resonated perfectly as a closing to the inaugural year.
Josh Oliver, while he also plays with Mandolin Orange, has one of (if not the) most uniquely beautiful voices in the modern roots music landscape. His previous 2 albums are still constants for me throughout my every day life whenever I need a good collection of songs to listen to and seeing him with the band, during inevitable after hours jams, sitting in with other artists and during his own set will be a mix of breathtaking moments and tear worthy inducing song arrangements. Don’t miss this guy.
The line up has grown since those first announcements and who knows what else will shake from the hills down there in Shire country come August. We cannot wait…
