Singled Out: Dave Ernst “Wreckin’ Just Fine”

A perfect blend of alt-country and rock. Music that will make you swing and dance along, Ernst sings with a gristled vocal over twangy teles and wailing slide.

Who: Dave Ernst

From: Louisville, KY

Song: “Wreckin’ Just Fine”

Latest Album: Hickory Switch (Eastwood Records, out March 1st)

What About It: “This was originally maybe my third or fourth favorite track from the record. But, from performing this song live over the past year as my line-up solidified, this song has taken over as a favorite, far and away. It’s got kind of a Gram Parsons/Wilco/Grateful Dead thing going on, and it’s an absolute blast to play live. The inspiration for the song is a pun on the southern-drawl homonyms ‘reckon’ and ‘wrecking’–it’s tongue-in-cheek for sure.”
