Fresh Track: Brandon Mastrangelo “Anchor”
Singer, songwriter and all around good dude Brandon Mastrangelo took a bit of time off of the old social media to focus on other aspects of his life recently. He came back with an announcement of a new EP. From his social page Mastrangelo says, “It’s been awhile since I’ve been on here. I’ve been working hard at being present in other areas of my life. I wrote songs and recorded them at 1809 Studios. Jonathan Schoeck worked his art/design magic, and now I have music and artwork I’m really proud of and ready to share. So here I am, back in your feed in hopes I can grab a few minutes of your time. I’ll be sharing the first track off the EP I recorded later this week. I hope it finds its way into your ears and hearts.”
The first track off of that project is called “Anchor” and has already been digging its way into our heart and mind. Brandon has a way of writing tunes that have a lot of movement and space, forcing your body to undulate with the music. This is no different. The two step of the drum patter, the sway of the acoustic vs electric guitar lines juxtaposed in strumming patterns and lead lines. His voice is often times understated, but there is such a power in his untroubled delivery of the words here. The song surrounds and pillows his voice, letting it rest over a rollicking chorus build, a quick acoustic strum with embellishments of country-roots electric guitar and super steady drum beat. It is that contrast of the gentle nature of his voice with the rock n’ roll fashion of the instruments that is so intriguing.
You can keep an eye out on Brandon’s Facebook or Website for more information on when the remaining tracks will be released…but feel free to go ahead and stream the new single a hundred times until then.
