Vintage Virtuosity: Twisted Pine’s “I Miss Talking” and CD Release Show (8/11 at Club Passim)

Our good pals at No Depression premiered a brand new video for our other pals, Twisted Pine, earlier this week and we think you all should check it out. A bit humorous at times, with a vintage-y red velvet curtain kind of a feel, the band encounters everything from mandolinist Dan Bui tackling bar duty, a old school scally adorning Chris Sartori’s head as he launches into a ridiculously mind bending bass solo, singer-fiddler Kathleen Parks taking a dip in a fountain and some fancy popcorn tossing work by Rachel Sumner (around the :48 second mark).

I Miss Talking” comes off of the band’s debut full length record that just dropped recently. Driven by virtuosic playing across the board and warm, heart melting harmonies. That band encompasses a mind boggling ability to impress with acrobatic instrumental solos and a knack for arrangements that are of a “Punch Brothers chamber-grassy-esque” nature, adding just enough pop sprinkled over the top to really catch your ear and keep the hook of the songs in your hear. The full record is one you should be picking up today…and you can, if you go RIGHT HERE and buy it.

Twisted Pine just added a second show at Club Passim tomorrow night as part of their CD release celebration. The 7 PM show is sold out, but you can still pick up tickets for the 9:30 PM show on Passim’s website.

For now, we will just continue to watch this video and live in the retro vibes that the quartet is tossing off. Enjoy.
