Show You Should Know: Jake Klar at Light Club Lamp Shop 7/22 (Burlington, VT)
Though if you pay attention to Jake Klar’s instagram it seems like he is skating more frequently than picking these days, the dude’s leaning towards a Travis picking, bluesy style ala Justin Townes Earle is as charming and pleasant as it is captivating.
His last release “Cresent City Blues” was a bit more of a rock n’ roll meets blues hybrid than I had seen in his live instances…even Rocks & Gravel had that rattling bones and haunting feel to it…this time along I expect an intimate and for the songs to really speak as Klar will be pulling solo duty. But the picking is what defines this gents songs, along with great hooks and a voice that would make most green with envy. So you are in for a real treat.
Klar is up at our favorite little spot tomorrow night. Thats the Light Club Lamp Shop and we highly recommend you get on over to check it out. He hits it at 9 PM, but get there early, get some eats and check out all the music that this place has to offer on a Saturday night.
In the meanwhile, here’s a video he shot with our old pals from The Old Guitar/Idlewilde Creations.
Psssst…if you miss him this time around, he is also back in September at our favorite beer making magicians, Foam Brewers right on down by the waterfront.
