Show You Should Know: Muddy Ruckus at Billsville House Concerts (Saturday 10/8)
For a number of years now Doug Hacker’s Billsville House Concert series has been roping in some mighty impressive artists. What stemmed as a way to get artists to make a stopover in town and avoid having to engage in heavy travel to the next biggest city has evolved in not just a labor of love, but some truly special moments.
This weekend our pals from Maine Muddy Ruckus make their way to the series. Know for their foot stomping percussive songs and heart wrenching harmonies, they are sure to tickle any fancy from the need to move and shake to the need to feel ALL the feelings. Be sure to get there if you are in the area and to keep you held over, here’s this:
About the series…
“Billsville” is our nickname for Williamstown – the place we started. We’re in our fourth year of this house concert series. The thing is, we’ve branched way out. Think of us now as a “Non-Traditional Venue” concert series. House, Barns, Art Spaces . . . We’re no longer in Williamstown having moved to Southern Vermont but our ties to the name and the area are still strong and we still do shows all over.
We book artists who we want to see and make them a deal that’s hard to turn down. A great spot to play in a great part of the county, a fine helping of our vegetarian cooking, a place to stay for the night – and 100% of the proceeds. It’s a deal that make sense to everyone involved. As a fan, you’ll get to see talented and passionate musicians without the distraction of bar noises or disinterested patrons. Plus, you’ll know that all of your money is going right back to the musicians.
As a musician – you’ll know that people are here to see you play and revel in the community spirit that a house concert offers.
