Peep This: The Page Turners Infectiously Catchy “Little Lorrie”
I’m a sucker for two things: killer vocal harmonies and soaring fiddles runs that take your breathe away and make your knees weak. The latest from The Page Turners called “Little Lorrie” has got both of those things, and its got them in spades my friends.
Penned by singer/fiddle maestro (is it “maestra”?) Carolyn Kendrick, “Little Lorrie” takes the catchiness of a repeated chorus line you can pick up and sink your teeth into after one listen and mixes it with a swing vibe and movement that could even shake the dead from the grave and get them moving. One thing is for sure, its catchy as all hell and has firmly wormed its way into my brain in the best possible way…I’ll be singing this one to myself for the next month or so.
Filmed in a living room in a brownstone-ish charactered house, it brings a certain intimacy to the performance. If this is what happens on a regular basis at this home then I am moving in and crashing on the couch.
With the addition of some simple, on point harmonies from fellow duo partner Jake Howard and great guitar work. Last time I saw the band at Freshgrass last month he was slaying it on the mandolin, and in this video he loses two strings for the old dreadnaught and still manages to impress. The guy seemingly can excel on all things strings.
A little bit country, a little bit bluegrass but a whole bit groovy and great. Keep a close eye on these two….
