Listen Up: Chatham County Line “All That’s Left”
Chatham County Line, will be playing Club Passim November 6. The North Carolina based bluegrass innovators are on tour in support of their recently released seventh album, Autumn, which debuted #1 on Billboard’s Bluegrass chart.
A little bit Old Crow and a little bit Bill Monroe, the latest off the new album is called “All That’s Left” and is driven by a harmonica crying out and gentle harmonies that are paced slowly along by plucked strings and percussive strums. There is a gentleness to their sound. A timeless quality. From the carefully crafted mandolin interplay with the piano during the break to the soft croon of Dave Wilson’s vocal. This stuff is just plain pleasant as heck to hear come across your ear canal. Soothing in some sense, both with its dedicated bluegrass roots and the performances that are warm and for lack of a better comparison, just feel like the fall to me. The album name is a perfect fit for the tone and temperment of this particular tune.
Oh, right and the band recently announced a collaboration with Big Boss Brewing on a beer named for the album. Autumn will be on draft and in 750-ml bottles throughout Big Boss Brewing’s distribution network. So, yeah thats pretty awesome as well.
