Fresh Sesh: Old Spruce Sessions at Freshgrass With Ethan Robbins

We had a wonderful time at Freshgrass this past weekend and although we were only on site for Saturday the old friends we ran into and the beautiful new friends we made filled our hearts to full capacity.

Last year wandering through the halls of Mass MoCa I was intrigued by the spaces around the grounds, both inside and out of the museum itself. I thought “man, I wish I could connect with some of the artists and film performances here”. Well, this year we did just that with a few of our pals. The first being from Ethan Robbins of Cold Chocolate.

Ethan and I stowed away to a quiet back hallway, half under construction but with the original, charactered brick exposed through new metal struts and the veins of electrical wiring running throughout like snakes pouring from crevices in a rock face. The soft lilting vocal that he pushes forth from his chest filled the air of those tall scarred walls and for a moment the chaos of construction tools, bags of cement and boxes of nails opened up into a bit of beauty.

Give a watch…
