Dietrich Strause is a craftsman. Only he doesn’t work with wood or steel, he works with words and human emotion. Strause’s songs have penetrated the hearts of Camber-Villains for nearly a decade now and he has embedded himself as a strongheld staple in the local roots community. The dude sells out various rooms every time he performs around here and always comes ready to wow whether its he and his beat up Martin or he brings along some friends for the ride.
Tonight Dietrich continues a run at the Lizard Lounge in Cambridge and will be bringing some incredibly special friends along for the ride tonight. With Lyle Brewer on lead guitar, Zach Hickman on upright bass, and Billy Beard on drums you can’t go wrong, but the songwriter announced he was also planning on toting another one of our favorites down to that dimly lit basement room on Mass Ave tonight, Mark Erelli. Yup, its going to be a hell of a night.
Strause kicks off the evening and is followed by The Sun Parade (who our pals Sumner & Moss just covered for Locals Covering Locals). The band has this indie folk rock vibe with an energy that is infectious and makes you move. Rachel Sumner recently said “they’re just one of those bands that are so easy to love” when I asked her about why they decided to cover them for the LCL project. I, for one, am really excited to catch them tonight for the very first time.
Last I checked there were around 25-30 tickets less…and this show will sell out. So get on over HERE and pick up yours today and I’ll see you all lit in a red glow tonight at Lizard.
Oh, and while you are surfing the web for all things Strause, Dietrich has a new campaign out for his upcoming record “How Cruel That Hunger Binds”. You can get all the details RIGHT HERE on his kickstarter page.
