There is literally no one else with a voice like Sarah Borges. Literally. I mean listen to even one of this artist’s songs and then spend a few days trying to come up with something. I have spent countless hours trying to draw up some sort of comparison, but this gal and her voice are just in a world all her own. A world I am very thankful exists.
With a career that has spanned quite some time here in Boston, and as an artist I looked to as an example of what a great Boston act should be when I first came back to town, Borges is a staple in the music community that holds together the rock crowd of Allston and Brighton with the folky folks gracing the basement clubs of Cambridge like Lizard Lounge and Club Passim. A gap that, sadly, can prove to feel like a canyon at times. Very few artists can bridge that gap, but there is just something incredibly special about Sarah and her music that works and is so adaptable. I think the key is she just makes great music that so many folks can appreciate and love…while it rocks you to the core.
Perhaps the msot perfect venue for the release of her latest release “Good and Dirty” is a venue that acts very much the same way, in bridging music styles in a great atmosphere, and she will be there (at Atwood’s Tavern) this Saturday night.
I’ve just begun to sink my teeth into this 5 track latest effort, but already it has a grunginess and rock n’ roll attitude that I have come to love from this gal. Her voice is at the forefront of that sound and man, she has still got it…and she has got it by the truck load.
