Songstress Sarah Blacker has been a mainstay in the Camber-ville community for a long while now. With a voice that is unmistakable and chord patterns that are interesting and out of the norm she weaves songs that tell personal, yet relatable tales. Dotted with sharp hooks that latch into you and keep themselves spinning around your head for hours after you hear them.
Last year the singer-songwriter released a new record with an extended sound compared to what I was used ot hearing from her. She said about the album, In Waves, “this album to me represents growth into the genre, and progression as an artist into a realm of further fearlessness from whence I came – yes!
I have always felt that my music is more rock n’roll than folk, but I think that fear of letting go into the sounds that come naturally to me, has been what has held me back. In performing these songs live, I think they’ve taken on even more adventure and a sense of freedom as I grow into them.”
She plays at Club Passim this Friday, 2/19 with support from Kevin William.
Be sure to snag yourself a seat for Friday’s show and take in the writer’s songs and attitude. It is bound to be a good one!
