Peep This: Honeysuckle Performs “It’s Getting Late” at RLR 3 Year Anniversary
When people talk about “folk music” terms like simple and no frills are often thrown out there to describe the instrumentation. The banjo gets a bad rep for its Deliverance references, and could be seen as a simple instrument. But put tradition into the hands of the talent contained in the folk-roots trio Honeysuckle, and boy do you get something miles above what traditional 3 chords and the truth kind of folk gives you. Sure, there story-telling aspects are still there, but the members of the band perform instrumental acrobatics across the board. The harmonies that the collective voice of the trio manage to muster up are nothing short of breathtaking and their arrangements are part genre-bending-genius-classical and part bluegrassy-hot-licks.
The band will celebrate the release of its next album later on in March at Club Passim (March 24 to be exact and you can grab some tickets HERE). But to keep you held over and curb your hunger, here they are performing their original tune ‘It’s Getting Late’ last Saturday at our 3 Year Anniversary Celebration at The Burren.
