Lord Nelson is two brothers, one greasy trombone, backbone bass, pocket drums, dirty south guitar and a hell of a lot of fun. The band was formed in 2012 by brothers, Kai and Bram Crowe-Getty. With the addition of Henry Jones on trombone and Trevor Pietsch on bass, this collection of Virginia boys presents original roots rock compositions about the people and places they grew up around. Lord Nelson’s unique sound varies in range from slow burning, harmony laced anthems to back beat pulsing floor stompers.
The track “Feel It” by the band has an anthem type feel to it. It builds to a throbbing instrumental section before coming down. The strained vocals and rock n’ roll distortion of the guitars has that feeling that the band is trying to feel. Its feel good, beer clinking, barroom stomping rock n’ roll music a horn section for added measure and depth. Its raucous and overdriven, but in the friendliest and most inviting sense of the terms. Approachable, but still rocking.
The Virginia based band Lord Nelson will be bringing their brand of southern rock and folk to Atwood’s Tavern in Cambridge, March 8. Doors at 9. Tickets $6 and you can snag them at the door!
