Listen to this: Max Garcia Conover ’86 Grand Marquis’

Max Garcia Conover’s songs read like a book of poetry. The simplicity of an expertly and fascinating picked guitar adds to the appeal and curiosity producing nature of his songs. Honing in on the story and the words.

i got a memory of blood
i don’t remember whose it was
black and shining on the leaves
moon rising through the trees
somebody lying in the mud

Conover is as polished and prolific a songwriter as they come. This song in particular is part of a series of releases he is currently putting out on his website. It would seem as though this song, named ’86 Grand Marquis’ is the 26th installement and the singer-songwriter claims the inspiration for the ‘song is named after a car I found on craigslist. hope you like it.’

The arrangement is simple. A guitar and a voice, but Max’s  finger-style guitar is complex and impressive. He picks with a practiced proficiency and authority, hitting all the right notes time after time. He sings with a hugely pleasant tone in his voice, almost half singing and half speaking in nature. Telling the story, ensuring you are listening and heard each phrasing and line.
