A few weeks ago Boston based singer-songwriter Alec Hutson stopped by the old homestead and we filmed a couple of live performances. Alec heard that I had a barn and was dead set on shooting something in that space…so we went ahead and did just that.
Hutson is a songwriter with a knack for adding interesting dynamics into his arrangements. He implements foot percussion into his performances better than most folks I have ever seen do it and does so with a style and prowess that is clean, but has such a groove and feel to it. His last recording Bear Bones became a quick favorite of mine and what I describe as a voice with “a raspy, but beautiful tone to it”, embedded itself into my mind and I find myself singing Alec’s tunes in my head even when I haven’t listened to them in a while. The man has got some soul and that is even evident in his more subdued songs such as this yet unreleased song of his called “I Fell”. Check it out…
