Big Reds 2015 Announcement…

It is that time of the year again and whether you love it or hate it with deep and emotionally driven passion, awards events revolving around music are going to be happening.

Say what you will about it I think there is value in a bit of friendly competition while at the same time shining a light on folks who have really worked hard all year to hone their craft, released an incredible record, or toured relentlessly. Regardless of who wins, I feel as though through some processes do justice in allowing a community driven “appreciation fest” to unfold. I am hoping the process adopted last year where nominations were made by the community and then voted on by that same community is an example of that.

This year things are being slimmed down a bit, however, with fewer categories. So, there’s that and here’s this…the nomination form is at this link and I am soliciting YOUR input for who is going on the ballot. There is only one rule, please keep nominations to the New England area as anyone outside of Mass, RI, NH, Maine, VT, or NY will not be counted. Nominations will continue through the entire month of October at which point voting will begin.

This year’s categories are: SONGWRITER OF THE YEAR, BAND OF THE YEAR, ALBUM OF THE YEAR, SONG OF THE YEAR, and MUSICIAN OF THE YEAR…and of course my very own favorite nominations: Red’s Favorite Find of 2015 and Artist of the Year (but I’ll worry about those two).
