There is something about that “singalong, old timey, good feeling” type of song that no matter what mood I am in, it grabs me and I have to smile and listen on in.
Woody Pines take on a traditional tune “Bootlegger’s Blues”…in this case named “Make it to the Woods” for their arrangement…does just that. It has a very acoustic feel and vibe to it with a driving acoustic woody sound as the base and some tasty, dirty electric guitar layered over the top, with some harp in there for good measure. This stuff has got an energy, an energy that is special and unique but nostalgic and sepia tinged in its nature.
There is a juke joint, barn burning feeling infused into the music. I dare you to listen and not start tapping your feet along to the dance that these fellas pour out.
This is just a great, fun tune. The harmony sing along works so well and is the perfect summer time stomping, front porch guitar slinging, toss a few back with your buddies and pick your instruments kind of a song that puts me in a great mood.
Listen on in for yourself, slip on a smile, and enjoy your long holiday weekend.
“Old-school American roots music from the intersection between hillbilly country and Nashville steam-train blues. We like the term “hillbilly boogie”, but any way you cut it, Woody Pines’ new album is jumpin’ hot!”
