I had every intention of contacting each and every artist at campfire and running stories and all that, but alas, life is busy and sometimes crappy and you can’t do everything, so here I am just telling you that you should go to at least one day of the 4 day campfire festival at Club Passim this weekend. Somehow they manage to curate an incredible long weekend of music not once, but twice every year and every time its exciting and filled with new and old favorites. Its all about the songs people. Check out the schedule below, but real quick, here are some suggestions from my point of view:
TONIGHT (Friday 5/22): I was recently introduced to The Ladles by my good pal Ian Fitzgerald and you know I am a sucker for lady harmonies, damn well worth checking out. Also tonight is the fantastic The Sea, The Sea, who I believe was at one of the campfire’s last year where I saw them (or maybe the year before?) I forget, but regardless, they are fantastic!
TOMORROW (Saturday 5/23): Bill Scorzari in the round with Tom Smith, Lloyd Thayer, and Greg Cornell. Bill came out to a Red Line show at Passim recently with a bunch of volume 2 friends and I have been intrigued to catch him live every since. The round sets at campfire are always amazing…speaking of which you can never go wrong with Dietrich Strause, who is closing Saturday night in the round with Sean Trischka and Mike Block!
SUNDAY 5/24: Our good pal Eva Walsh will be in a trio round set and Dietrich is back again for a solo (with band?) set. Catch those!
MONDAY 5/25: Rose Polenzani was great when I recently saw her opening for Strause and his band, check her out in the round and our good, good buds Theodore Ruxpin close the weekend, so be there for that!
