Locals Covering Locals: Crossing Generations

While each and every session thus far has been an absolute joy and privilege for me at Riverview Studios with Sam Margolis and Andrew Kramer by my side, this weekend will mark a new highlight for this project. The number of incredibly talented musicians involved in this project is growing exponentially. There have been some repeat musicians coming into the studio with another act, then coming back to cover their own tune (looking at you Laurence Scudder) but this weekend something truly special happens.

Allysen Callery and I met…well, I am thinking it must have been through the AS220/Providence connection in some fashion. I became an immediate fan of her soft spoken songs and delicate (and often times mind boggling) picking style. And then a few months back she posted something on her social media site about how proud she was that her daughter had written her first song and posted it out there for the world.

I then discovered Ava Callery and the songs she was posting to Facebook, just sharing with friends and family and was sure that musical talented is a genetic trait. With a Stratocaster in hand she sings in a haunting, beautiful tone that really grabs you and won’t let go. I am so excited to have her into the studio to record for this project and have her share music from someone she cares about deeply…her mom.

Yes, folks we are crossing generational boundaries and making LCL a family affair. This is going to be one hell of a session.
