I am always in awe of folks when they hold such an extreme level of talent, yet are some of the most humble and down to earth folks on the planet. That’s exactly what these next two fellas.
I first met M.R. Poulopoulos on a shared bill at Club Passim. It was an in the round situation for campfire and since he was in town, it was suggested by another good friend, Ian Fitzgerald, that I have him join the night before that gig for Roots in the Round at Toad. He quickly became a guy I gathered a lot of respect for as a songwriter and an all around good pal. A great guitar player, incredible story teller, and a hell of a voice. While Mike and I may live a couple hundred miles apart, I feel a kindred spirit kind of a connection to him and I count him as a dear friend, regardless of how often we get to see one another.
Joining him will be another guy I have an incredible amount of admiration and respect for, Laurence Scudder. Larry is the type of guy who just loves to make other people sound better with his skill and devotion. He is also coming into the spotlight in his own band Spotted Tiger, taking the lead on songwriting and singing, and man, he kills it both in a supporting role and as the front man. When you talk about a multi-faceted player, Scudder should come to mind each and every time.
I can’t wait to see what these two cook up. Both of them are incredible talents on their own, but when they come together and the whiskey is flowing, its a sure as hell heck of a time to be had.
