“Hey really talented musician folk that I am friends with, come cover my songs” may sound like a gimmick or an ego based project, but for those that know Andy it is anything but that. As he says on the blog site, he had qualms and second thoughts about the project, but in the end we are all damn lucky he followed through with it all.
What he was able to accomplish is really quite incredible. Coralling some of the most talented musicians in town to perform their take on his music. Creating a close knit community around a central idea of sharing the songs of one another and allowing those folks to interpret them how they felt.
Andy is the type of musician and guy who has given so much of himself to other people’s music. The guy plays nearly every instrument under the sun…and does so better than you do, all while maintaining a sense of grace, humility, and honesty that is pretty incredible for a guy as talented as he. This show is sure to be a wonderful event, with a ton of amazing talent and the culmination of what I am certain was a whole hell of a lot of work.
Congrats Andy! This is one hell of a project my friend. Be proud
