Show You Should Know: Josh Buckley @ Lizard 9/4

buckley_1_webTomorrow evening marks a special night for Josh Buckley, it will be his homecoming release as the songwriter has made the leap to that southern music oasis that rhymes with our fair city’s name, Austin, TX.  The ex Gilded Splinter and mainstay of the Camberville scene will be celebrating his release with two incredible Northeast Bands, raucous rockers ‘Township’ and one of my favorite new bands, Smith & Weeden. The night is sure to be a great one in that red hazed basement room, so check it out! I got a first listen to the record titled “Blind Side of the Heart” and here are just a few reasons you should probably get off your lazy ass and head on over to the Lizard Lounge tomorrow evening:

–          The record has a cast of some of the best players in town with musical input from such acts as The White Owls, and the Curtis Mayflower. Those bands are awesome, therefore this record is also awesome.

–          There is a fine mix of songwriter acoustic guitar and feel to this record, mixed in with some great arrangements through the supporting music. Great melodies and intertwining sounds.  When you think of a collection of great songs to take in live, this defines it.

–          Buckley has a soft and soothing voice. It’s like Neil Young if he wasn’t so shakey (Neil that is). Gently spilling out his heart for you all. The kind of voice that will hush the Lizard Lounge for 60 minutes of great songs.

–          “Blind Side of the Heart” picks up the sound a bit. With some swirling guitar parts, steady drums, and Josh’s voice rising high above it all with some mighty purty harmonies, it’s a great title track…therefore, you should go to the show and buy the record.

–          A little bit of Dylan,  a little bit of Willie, a little bit of Townes, and a little bit of Neil…its got something for everyone. You know, with good taste in music of course,

So hit the link below and grab your tickets, head on over to Lizard tomorrow night and take in a great night of music!
