New England Americana Festival Announces Line-Up

With only a month to go, the NEAF has officially rolled out its line up and schedule for their 2014, 5th annual festival. The fest will again partner up with Harvard Square to bring a free outdoor concert on Saturday, September 27th right on Brattle street. There will also be a kick-off night on Friday evening at Club Passim as well as an evening performance at Passim following Saturday’s free, outdoor shows. Both of the evening shows will have a cover of $15…but again, the day is free so you know it all evens out. Go see it all!

While the festival has nearly halved its number of acts this year, it is evident that they are making significant efforts to direct a keen focus on not just local bands, but local efforts from groups or organizations having sets throughout the weekend. With sets from Patrick Coman (Local Folk on WUMB, For the Sake of the Song), The Massachusetts Walking Tour (Mark Kilianski, Amy Alvey, Raianne Richards, Mark Mandeville), New England to Nashville, Greg Klyma’s Americana Mondays, and well, a set with yours truly and two of my absolutely favorite people to pick with Mark Whitaker and David Gallagher.

But don’t worry, there will be bands. Oh yes, there will be bands. The main River stage will host a few of the more rocking acts that have made big waves in the past year with Tigerman WOAH! and Tallahassee flanking the daytime sets. While the WUMB stage will play host to Dennis Brennan and his excellent blend of folk and rock and the always incredible, soulful (and large!) OldJack.

More info to come as the month rolls on, but for now check out the schedule at the link below and be sure to check the entire weekend out!
