My Newport Saturday (Tentatively, of Course)

I gave you my Friday and there was much discussion, so lets talk about Saturday at Fort Adams…shall we?

Luckily, Saturday starts a bit earlier than Friday…unluckily, that means more tough decisions. But I think I will be kicking my weekend of with…

I would remiss to miss out on the act that I wrote the introduction for, so my first set will be the lovely and super talented Ms. Aoife O’ Donovan at the Fort stage. It will be awesome to see this gal up there on the main stage.

I have a sheer morbid curiosity to catch John C. Reilly being somewhat serious and playing, so I am going to run to the Harbor stage and catch the first few songs from his set and shoot some pictures. I think I am going to be pleasantly surprised.

Then I plan on running back to the Fort for Pokey LaFarge. I foresee this being a big highlight of the weekend. The dude just has this charm…something timeless that I think the Newport crowd will truly eat up and then ask “please sir, may I have some more”. This will be this year’s Charles Bradley…a true show.

From here, my plan is to stake out at the Harbor Stage for a bit. I want to catch J. Roddy Walston and Shakey Graves back to back and maybe catch some footage of festival goers saying why they love NFF (come find me if you want to be in!). I hate to miss Shovels and Rope on the big stage, but I have seen them a bunch, love them to death, but know they will kill it!

Then its to see the local boys making it nice, Deer Tick on the main stage. Cut out a bit early and through the backstage for my biggest upset last year. Missing the Milk Carton Kids set. I WILL NOT make that same mistake twice. Then back to the Fort for Nickel Creek, veg out for a bit until Jack White and then home.

What does your Saturday look like???
