Well, all good things must come to an end, and sometimes they end a whole hell of a lot quicker than we anticipate. As I mentioned in the nominee announcement post, there was a limited number of votes and everyone could only vote once. Luckily “one vote per IP address” is an option that seemingly works, unluckily (depending on how you look at it) these votes came FLYING in real quick. I think that is a testament to the support and wonderful people in this community. Not just the artists, musicians, and clubs but also the people out supporting local music this town. You all have re-established my faith in keeping the local arts thriving.
Now down to the business end of this thing. At first I was half considering completely throwing out those votes that only included one vote out of the possible fourteen categories, but in the end, a vote is still a vote (even if its a lazy vote). My eyes were opened for a minute that the voters may, in fact, not know any of the other people in the other categories (though its a damn shame and they should spend the rest of their day googling all of them) and everyone does deserve an equal say in this. The votes will be tallied, organized, consolidated, whatever and I will make the final announcement of all the selections a week from today. That’s December 16th, next Monday. While I wish I could fund fancy trophies or ribbons, or gift bags, sadly I cannot (unless someone knows a trophy maker who wants to sponsor this? Eh? Any takers?). I am, however, planning on screenprinting a certificate to send to all of the category winners. Limited edition, blood/sweat/tears, and individually labeled for your category with your name. That’s kind of cool, right?
Again, I cannot thank everyone who nominated, who voted, and who is out there making this city such a wonderfully rich palette of local arts. You all are winners in my book.
My heart is very full right now. Thank you all.
