Peep This: Julia Caesar “Crimson”

Like so many bands I fall in love with, Burlington based 4 piece Julia Caesar were introduced to me by another musician friend. One fateful night at Arts Riot I was out to see friends Clever Girls celebrate the release of their latest record and the band wedged right in the middle set sank their hooks right into me and for the next 45-50 minutes I was smiling ear to ear. There is something vintage-y delicious about the aesthetic of the band, both sonically and visually in the color palette of the new video.

As evident in “Crimson” the band weaves vocal harmonies and guitar melodies with a certain ease that glows and floats buoyantly above the steady snare chatter and bass lines. But don’t let beautiful melodical lines and soaring, intertwining vocal patterns fool you into thinking they are a shoe-gazing indie pop band. As about a minute and half into the song makes clear: this band can fucking rock your core. It is the sum of the collective influence and voices from the band that makes them something special all their own.

Check out the video, go out and see these folks live and buy their records.
